Beggi and Dora met in Reykjavik where Beggi grew up and Dora went to study. They both felt the calling of a calmer life in the countryside. They looked around for land to buy in the area where Dorá grew up and came across the farm called Minnivellir which was almost the neighbor of Dora´s childhood home. They bought it on the condition that the current residents, a group of 3 old siblings got to live there the rest of their lives. Beggi and Dora agreed and bought the house and the land, but continued to live in Reykjavik for a while, waiting for their house to be theirs to live in.
In the meantime they decided to build a new house on the lot, close to the old one so they could share the stable, barn and the old milk house. The year after they finished the construction process the last one of the siblings passed, leaving the old farmhouse empty until Magnús and Þorey came along. You can read that story here.
In the summer Beggi stays busy with riding and caring for his approximately 65 sheep. In the winter he works with training horses for a sales stable as well as caring for the sheep that stay in his barn during the winter. Dora works in xxx and like to spend her free time exploring the area by foot, but she is an excellent rider and joins the tours from time to time.
An important addition to the team behind the tours operated by Beggi and Dora is one of Beggi‘s oldest friends Palli. They got to know each other in Reykjavik when they grew up together and Palli has later moved to Selfoss, where he works as a carpenter. Palli has a small herd of horses that he has bred and trained himself and is leading the tours in cooperation with Beggi.
